Memory Objects

January 15 – February 5,  2026

Closing Reception | Wednesday, February 4 | 6:00-8:00pm

Events filled with joy or with grief are imprinted to different regions of our brains. The recollection of those memories can become distorted over time. One of the most common anchors of our memories comes from photographs of the people or places that are tied to the emotional experience. The photograph often becomes the object or evidence that helps us access that area of our brain where the memory is held and allows us to reconnect when that connection is desired.

The photographers in this exhibition are either current or former residents of Trenton, students at Mercer County Community College, or both. They have all generously shared markers from their memories of home and varying places of emotional ties through their images.

The photographs presented here range from highly personal details and artifacts to far reaching landscapes and yet all of them read as intimate descriptions of spaces that suggest we are experiencing the memories of others.
